Macon-East camp: The "Dream Big" baseball camp will be held at Macon-East on June 13-16. Camp is open to players ages 6-12 and will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day. Macon-East coach Scott Tubbs will conduct the camp along with former Macon-East and current college players. Camp will feature three special guest speakers in former major leaguers Terrence Long (June 14), Scott Sullivan and Gabe Gross (June 15). Cost is $100 for early registration and $120 for walk-up registration. Early registration must be completed by June 3. Contact Scott Tubbs at 399-8834.

Ruth league seeks players:The Central Alabama Senior Babe Ruth 16-18-year-old league is looking for teams and/or players for the coming season. League starts May 30. Tallassee camp: Former Faulkner baseball coach Brent Barker will hold a baseball camp at Tallassee from 9 a.m.-noon on May 31-June 3. Cost is $60 (walk-up price is $65). Camp will be at the Tallassee Dixie Youth Complex. Contact Barker at 386-7148.

BASKETBALL
AUM camps: AUM women's coach Dan Davis will hold a Future Stars Camp (grades K-3) on May 31-June 2. Cost is $50. He also will host an Elite Camp (grades 8-12) on June 3-5. Cost is $180 for overnight campers and $150 for commuters. A Day Camp (grades 4-7 will be held June 27-30. Cost is $110. Contact Davis at 244-3235, or email him at ddavis21@aum.edu .

R.E. Lee camp: Robert E. Lee coach Bryant Johnson will hold a camp for boys and girls ages 5-18 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on June 1-3 at the Lee gym. Cost is $50. Lunch will be served; snacks will be sold during break time. There will be high school coaches as well as former high school coaches teaching fundamentals of ball-handling, shooting, rebounding, passing and defense. Registration is from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. daily until June 1. Contact Johnson at 269-3742 (extension 40028).

Sinclair Bullet Sorting Stand

With a perfectly flat, black granite base for stability, this Sinclair tool uses a caliber-specific, bullet comparator and a dial indicator to quickly sort bullets by their length from base to 0give.

Segregating your bullets into batches that vary no more than +/- .005 inches in length will tighten your groups significantly.

Even finer tolerances will yield additional improvement.

Obviously bullet sorting works best if you start with several hundred bullets from a single manufacturer’s lot.

Most established bullet makers have excellent quality control, so all of your sorted batches should shoot well. However on rare occasions, you may need to discard a bullet that falls well outside the normal range.

Simply drop each bullet nose-down into the caliber-specific bullet comparator and place the dial indicator onto the base of the bullet to read its length.

Depending on how tight your tolerances are, you may end up with five to 15 separate batches of sorted bullets. Although each of your batches vary in length, all will invariably shoot better than unsorted bullets.

Supreme Court Upholds Warrantless Searches to Protect Destruction of Evidence, Scolded by Justice Ginsburg

In an 8-1 opinion authored by Justice Alito, the U.S. Surpreme Court in Kentucky v. King (U.S. May 16, 2011), held that it was impermissible for police to conduct a warrantless search after announcing their presence led to activity that they believed would result in the destruction of drug-related evidence. Justice Ginsburg dissented.
