The following items were taken from Naperville police reports.

Theft

A woman reported her son stole several rings from a locked jewelry box that belonged to her deceased parents at 3:58 p.m. April 26 in the 800 block of Beaumont Drive. A laptop was stolen from a locked vehicle at 4:06 p.m. April 26 in the 1600 block of Brookdale Road. An iPod and GPS unit were stolen out of a locked vehicle between 7:30 p.m. April 30 and 3:30 a.m. May 1 in the 400 block of S. Washington Street. A car radio was stolen between 7 p.m. May 1 and 7:30 a.m. May 2 in the 1500 block of Fairway Drive. An iPod was stolen from a residence between 5 p.m. April 30 and 10 a.m. May 1 in the 900 block of N. Sleight Street. A woman got a haircut and highlights without paying between 3 and 4:30 p.m. April 29 in the 2800 block of Showplace Drive. An iPod Touch was stolen between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. April 16 in the 2400 block of Rio Grande Circle. Four tires were stolen from a vehicle at 9:53 a.m. April 28 in the 1400 block of W. Ogden Avenue. A man ran out of a store with a $329 power drill at 1:49 p.m. April 28 in the 2900 block of Audrey Avenue. A case-and-a-half of beer, rum and a carton of cigarettes were stolen from an unlocked garage in the 0-100 block of Redstart Road.

Property Damage

The side of a building was spray-painted between 5 p.m. April 25 and 12 p.m. April 26 in the 2000 block of Wicklow Road. Fifteen windows and doors were broken on a building at between 2 p.m. April 21 and 10 a.m. April 28 in the 3400 block of LaCrosse Lane. Door locks were filled with Super Glue between 7 a.m. and 7:36 p.m. April 26 in the 1200 block of Whispering Halls Court. Needles, a spoon with residue, a zipper-lock bag and bloody gauze were found near a tree at 9:15 a.m. May 3 at the intersection of Naper Boulevard and Rockbridge Drive. A vehicle was keyed at 11:04 a.m. May 3 in the 2600 block of Rockport Lane. Lawn decorations were thrown into a rock pond between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. May 2 in the 0-100 block of Redstart Road. A baseball bat damaged a mailbox between April 30 and May 1 in the 1000 block of Sara Lane. A mailbox was shattered, and mail was scattered onto the street, between 1 and 10:30 p.m. April 30 in the 2600 block of Sweet Brown Road.

An unusual checkerboard design on the garage door of one of her neighbors is the result of the wife’s handiwork who was formerly a commercial artist. The wife in response to the question that was asked of her replied in the affirmative that she did get comments on the unusual decor by neighbors who asked her about the origin of her idea and the taken to execute it. He is a painting contractor and according to the wife, plans to paint the design in different colors four times a year to correspond with the changing seasons.
